Catalyst Investment Management (“Catalyst”), based in Jordan, is the first Arab MENA region private equity fund manager specialized in the Energy (renewables and efficiency) and the Water sectors.
Catalyst established the Catalyst Private Equity Fund I Limited in 2006, and began investing in solar and oil/gas efficiency technology companies in 2007. It was the region’s first energy and water technology/venture capital fund, with investments in the Levant, North Africa, and the Gulf (GCC).
Catalyst is uniquely structured to have a positive strategic and financial impact on the Arab region. It has a long-term vision regarding its involvement in its portfolio; currently developing and investing
in opportunities in Jordan and the MENA region.
In 2011, Catalyst began its project development activities, being the lead developer for the 23MWp Solar PV project, Falcon Ma’an Solar Power (Jordan Round 1).
In mid-2016, Catalyst launched the Catalyst MENA Clean Energy Fund (CMCF) for investment in projects and SME’s in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency, focused on the Levant and North Africa.
CMCF is backed primarily by European Government investors. Its principles of responsible investing are embedded in its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Framework, which provides the structure and guidance for Catalyst investment team as well as its portfolio companies.
